The manuscript is comprised of two volumes. The 1700-pages manuscript, written by Victor Hugo between 18, will be the centrepiece of this major exhibition devoted to the world literary masterpiece. It is a world-first: the landmark manuscript has never left Europe before. Mr Stéphane Romatet, Ambassador of France to Australia, helped secure the loan from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
